Shaped to Serve 2018, Covenant’s tenth annual church-wide day of service, is Nov. 10. On this day, members form teams to do proj­ects in the community that benefit our mission partners.


On Saturday morning, from 10 a.m. to noon, bring the following items to Covenant Hall for Refugee Services of Texas

  • Items needed: 
    • Cleaning supplies: all-purpose cleaner, sponges
    • Laundry supplies: Laundry baskets, detergent, fabric softener
    • Paper products: toilet paper, paper towels, 13-gallon trash bags
    • First-aid items: band-aids, first-aid ointment

Austin Disaster Relief Network

  • ADRN Disaster Relief Preparedness Training at Riverbend Church, Thursday, Nov. 8 , 7-9 p.m.
  • Weekend Harvey Relief Opportunity: Deploy to Houston to remove/replace vinyl siding, Nov10-12
    • Note: Tools, materials, meals and lodging provided

Austin Police Department/Parmer Lane

  • Deliver appreciation banner and provide cookies/healthy snacks to APD substation. 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Austin Voices for Education and Youth

  • Help with HarvestFest at Eastside Memorial High School: assist with setup from 9-10 a.m. and help with the first half of the event, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Help serve lunch at 11:30 a.m., and assist with the second half of the event and cleanup, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Brookdale Northwest Hills Senior Living

  • Join youth and families at a hymn sing and fellowship with residents, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Central Texas Blood and Tissue Center (We Are Blood)

  • Choose a time (appointment recommended) and go give blood!
    • Some health conditions, medications, or travel may temporarily or permanently preclude donating.

Christmas Giving Tree

  • Help assemble ornaments showing gift options for clients of Covenant-supported humanitarian missions, decorate trees for display during December, 10 a.m. -12 p.m.

Feed Firefighters

Provide lunch and baked goods for firefighters and ambulance drivers at:

  • Balcones Station, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Four Iron Station, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Tarrytown Statio, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • 2222 and 360 Station, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Hancock Station 1-3 p.m.

Gullett Elementary School (Allandale)

  • Join Gullett grounds committee and help beautify campus by working in the butterfly garden. Help make a butterfly house and repurpose a pond into a water feature, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Heart of Texas Pregnancy Resource Center

  • Bring gift bag items to Covenant Hall: nail polish, nail file, small lotion, small candle, etc. (any time)
  • Assemble small gift bags for clients who come to the center for pregnancy tests and tour the Heart of Texas Pregnancy Resource Center, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

 

Movin’ & Groovin’

  • Accompany coordinator as he drives the Covenant Suburban and trailer to pick up donations of gently used furniture and deliver it to families exiting homelessness, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Operation Gratitude

  • Make paracord survival bracelets for deployed troops and veterans. Ages 10 and up, 1-3 p.m.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

  • Knit or crochet hats or scarves at Covenant for the homeless and for hospice patients, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services

  • Organize the closet full of in-kind donations for foster children under PCHAS’ care. Items are mainly clothes and toys, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Refugee Services of Texas

  • Bring items to Covenant Hall any time for refugee families that arrive without sponsoring teams.
  • Items needed: 
    • Cleaning supplies: all-purpose cleaner, sponges
    • Laundry supplies: Laundry baskets, detergent, fabric softener
    • Paper products: toilet paper, paper towels, 13-gallon trash bags
    • First-aid items: band-aids, first-aid ointment

Samaritan Counseling Service

  • Prepare and write holiday cards and address envelopes to be sent out to community. 1-3:30 p.m.
  • Replant large flower pots, spread fresh mulch, weed and plant pansies, 1-3:30 p.m.

Street Youth Ministry

  • Help organize storage at drop-in facility; create checklists, labels, rearrange items, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Clean and prepare donated fresh vegetables so SYM clients can eat healthy all week! 10 a.m.- 12.p.m.
    • Includes chopping, cooking, packaging, and cleanup
  • Help assemble 50 sandwiches for Street Youth clients and make t-shirt belts 12-2 p.m.
    • Volunteers will provide bread, meat and condiments for sandwiches, scissors for cutting fabric and 3 or 4 t-shirts.

Texas Reach Out Ministries

  • Clean up around women’s houses, load flatbed trailers, yard work, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Organize women’s clothes closet. Sort donations: separate, purge, size and hang clothes, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
