Weddings at Covenant

Covenant is a beautiful place to have a wedding. We wish to offer all the benefits of our ministry to members and non-members in the community contemplating marriage. At Covenant, we believe a wedding is a sacred occasion and a service of worship. As such, weddings are planned in accordance with the beliefs and worship practices of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Couples are encouraged keep this objective in mind when determining where to have and how to plan their service. Our Sanctuary seats up to 420 people. We also have a chapel which seats 100 and is ideal for smaller weddings.

Scheduling a Wedding at Covenant

If you are interested in having your wedding at Covenant, these steps will help you determine if Covenant is the right venue and will provide a guide to how to make it happen.

  1. Read through our Preparing for Marriage brochure, which provides an overview of our beliefs. It also outlines the steps couples must take to have their weddings at Covenant.
  2. After reading the document, contact the church office to confirm that both the church and a Covenant pastor are available for the planned date of your wedding. Contact the Scheduling Coordinator at (512) 454-5231.
  3. You may now begin wedding arrangements in a meeting with that pastor. The wedding and use of facilities are not confirmed until a pastor has met with the couple and has agreed to marry them. The couple will arrange that initial meeting by contacting that pastor or his/her assistant.
  4. Next, you should review our Wedding Packet. The Wedding Packet includes all the forms and information necessary to reserve your wedding date on the church calendar. Dates are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and are dependent upon the return of all the necessary forms and fees.
  5. Couples getting married at Covenant must receive pre-marital counseling. Please schedule a time(s) for counseling. Normally, the couple will schedule four sessions with the pastor officiating at the wedding. These sessions are required but may vary depending on the circumstances. Pre-marital counseling must be completed before the wedding date.

Memorial Services at Covenant

Memorial services and funerals are services of worship in which we affirm God’s power over death and the belief in the resurrection. These services are a time to offer thanksgiving to God for the life of the deceased. We encourage church members and their families to have the service at Covenant.

Memorial Service Planning

If a member family desires, Covenant may host a simple reception following the service. We do not charge members for the use of our facilities for these services; however, there are fees associated with providing musicians and A/V assistance at the reception.

Many decisions must be made in preparing for a memorial service or funeral. Covenant members may plan their own service. (See the planning document.) If you choose, your information is kept in a confidential file until needed. If you would like guidance, a pastor will meet with you.

For more information, please contact Mary Helen Mitchell, Memorial Service Coordinator, (512) 372-4050.
