HopeFest FAQ

October 23rd from 7:30am-3pm
What is Hopefest?
Hopefest is a resource festival serving the Austin Community. This event will provide families with resources focused on  including rent and utility assistance, health insurance, COVID vaccinations, as well as a connection to a variety of other supports.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns, HopeFest will be a drive-through event (with very limited walk-up services).
How does this work as a drive-through?
Much like the annual Trail of Lights, cars will wind through a limited number of exhibitors, as well as a drive-through zoo, book giveaway, children’s zone with craft kits for every child, classic car and motorcycle show, live music, and finishing with fresh food from the Central Texas Food Bank. A separate health zone in the front parking lot of Northeast ECHS will be offering COVID vaccinations, health insurance, and Blue Santa registration.
What kind of help do you need?
Approximately 125 volunteers are needed for HopeFest. All volunteers should evaluate their health risks before volunteering, and if possible be vaccinated against COVID. We will strictly enforce social distancing, wearing of masks by all volunteers, staff and attendees, and cleaning of all surfaces throughout the event. All families, whether in car or on foot, will be required to wear masks throughout the event. Cars will move through HopeFest in approximately 20 minutes. Cars having to park for health services will follow safety protocols established by Austin Public Health.
Can kids volunteer?
Yes, Kids ages 10 and up are welcome to come in partnership with a parent. Each child needs to be one on one with a parent through out the event.
Where is the event?
The event will be held at Nelson Feild at 7105 Berkman Dr, Austin, TX 78752
Do I have to sign up for the whole day?
No, we have 2 shifts. 7:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
What jobs are available?
We have many different opportunities. Volunteers will be helping direct traffic, load diapers and food into cars, sign in other volunteers, pass out water, help with vaccine clinic and help with other vendors. If you have something specific you’d like to do, please let us know on the registration form.
Do I need to bring anything?
Yes, please wear comfortable clothes, good walking shoes, sunscreen and water.
Can my small group serve together?
Yep! Just let us know on the form that your group would like to be together and we can accommodate that!
When is the last day to register to volunteer?
