Mission Spotlight

MAY SPOTLIGHT:
Organizations Supporting Moms

May is the month of Mother’s Day, and we’d love to celebrate the good work our mission partners are doing to support mothers and children. Below are the organizations we are highlighting and how they are supporting mothers.

The SAFE Alliance

SAFE supports those fleeing violence of any kind. While they support all who are in need of help, they overwhelmingly serve women and mothers who are seeking to escape violence. They provide housing, onsite daycare, shelter, counseling and support. They are always hoping to collect diapers, clothing, and formula. For more information on how to get involved in SAFE, email wbell@covenant.org

Austin Voices for Youth and Education

AVEY serves families in east Austin and often is asked for baby supplies. While their focus is mostly on school aged children, their desire is to act as a support for the family structure and that means they often provide baby needs such as diapers and wipes. . For more information on how to get involved email lynnbell53@gmail.com

Covenant Refugee Ministry

The Covenant Refugee Ministry has served many families over the past 6 years that it has been in place. Volunteers continue to offer refugee families support by offering to babysit while parents work or look for work, by offering rides to and from appointments, helping families navigate our school systems and intricacies and providing diapers and wipes when needed. For how to get involved in the refugee ministry, email ebrizzolaradove@gmail.com.

The Austin Recovery Network

Austin Recovery Network (ARN) is our special guest organization this month and offers treatment for addiction. They have a special program, their Family House Program, that houses mothers and children ages newborn-6 years old. This allows mothers to keep their children with them while they do the hard work of getting sober. ARN provides daycare while the mothers work on themselves with therapists. They also provide housing and all baby/child needs. They are so excited for us to spotlight them this month and provide some supplies they desperately need. For more information on how to get involved email Aellison@austinrecovery.org.
