At Covenant Presbyterian Church, we encourage each other to follow Jesus wherever we live, work and play. The work piece is tricky for many of us. Sometimes it can feel as if God is far away from our daily work. We sense there should be a stronger connection, but the realities of the workplace don’t seem to encourage or reflect God’s presence. We’d like to experience more integration in our lives, and more engagement between our faith and our work, but we’re not quite sure how to do this wisely and well.
The Covenant community will gather for encouragement to follow Jesus in our daiy work at a Faith and Work Workshop from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, in FE 400. The workshop will be led by Mark Roberts, Executive Director of the De Pree Center at Fuller Theological Seminary. Roberts, a long-time friend of our church formerly employed at Laity Lodge, will lead us through a process of biblical teaching and interactive conversation. Mark’s will deliver his input in several TED-length talks that will help us see the difference God makes in our daily work. We’ll learn that work is a place for us to flourish as the people God has created and redeemed us to be, and also a place for us to grow into deeper relationship with God and more complete discipleship.
