Baptism is the sign and seal through which we are joined to Christ. Through it, we are joined with Christ forever. As we and those we love are baptized with water, Jesus baptizes us with His Spirit, washing away all our sins. Baptism is God’s gift of grace and also God’s summons to respond to that grace.
At Covenant, we baptize babies and others who are ready to be baptized. Our baptisms announce to the world and to our church family that their our with God is underway.
Who can be baptized at Covenant?
Covenant baptizes children whose parents are Covenant members. As a church, our hope and expectation is that the parents are the spiritual leaders of the family. We encourage parents to find areas to serve within the Covenant community where their gifts and talents may be utilized, and we desire for the entire family to be fed spiritually through our programming. As you plan the baptism, please contact Maureen Crawley to find a spot on the church calendar for additional information and to schedule your baptism at email@example.com or (512) 334-3057. Please provide as much lead time as possible. We also baptize older children and adults who desire to make a commitment to God. Non-members who commit to attending the Explore Membership class and becoming members may plan a baptism. The date of the baptism must be scheduled after completing the Explore Membership class and joining Covenant.
Planning a Baptism at Covenant
Covenant members can expect a processing time of 4-6 weeks. Non-members who register to attend the Explore Membership class and become members may request baptism dates after the completion of the class. (Please note: this process can take up to 2-6 months depending on the timing of the next Explore Membership class. To find out when the next class is, contact Amy Skaggs.)
After the date is confirmed on the church calendar, a church employee will schedule a 30-minute meeting for the pastor to meet with the family. Parents and children are invited to this meeting so children can get acquainted with the pastor.
